What Is an Energy Convergence Complex?

  • Definition An area designated to promote convergence in the energy industry* and energy-related industries**. (Article 2 of the Act)
    • A business cluster created to be the converging point of technological innovation and integration through cooperative industry-academia networks in the energy industry fields (Article 13 of the Act) that call for national promotion.
  • Participants Companies specialized in energy fields*, research centers, universities, supporting agencies, public energy enterprises, energy suppliers
    (power plants, etc.) and testing and verification facilities.
    • Includes public energy enterprises and supply facilities that are the final consumer of technology and products developed by industry-academia. Seeks to maximize the effect of integration and make itself distinct from other clusters.
  • Strategy Select key energy industries* that are connected with specialized industries set by the local government, and establish early an ecosystem for the cluster through utilizing the existing infrastructure to the maximum.
