Purpose of Designating the Free Economic Zone

• The Jeonnam-Gwangju Free Economic Zone is designated to foster a global hub for new industries by creating an innovation ecosystem that promotes the convergence of regional core industries (automotive, energy, biomedical, etc.) with artificial intelligence (AI), in connection with the Gwangju AI Cluster being developed under the National AI Strategy.
• Through the designation of the Free Economic Zone, Gwangju aims to actively attract domestic and foreign companies, thereby securing new growth momentum for industrial development, creating jobs, and revitalizing the local economy.

Implementers of Development Projects and Methods of Implementation

• Implementer : Jeonnam-Gwangju Special Metroplitan City, Korea Land and Housing Corporation, Gwangju Metropolitan City Corporation
• Implementation method : the public development method is used in principle and a separate project method can be changed if the characteristics and functions of the project area are taken into consideration while there is no impact on the real estate price.
